Standardised olive leaf extract with 20% oleuropein - equivalent to 200mg per tablet
The olive leaf tree is a crop plant, which has been cultivated for thousands of years. The first indications go back to the 4th century B.C.. In the New Testament, olive trees are described as trees of life. Their leaves serve the well-being of the people.
In ancient Egypt approx. 1550 B.C., the effect of pressed olive leaves were valued and they were used to protect the deceased pharaohs against parasites, fungi and microbes.
Furthermore, olive leaves were recommended by Hippocrates in 460 B.C. and by Dioskurides in the 1st century after Christ. Later, in the 12th century, Hildegard von Bingen found indications of the positive applications of olive leaves. She recommended olive leaf tea.
Circa 1938 the French doctor Mazet conducted the first clinical studies regarding the effects of olive leaves, which were confirmed correspondingly.

Ingredients of olive leaves

Besides polyphenols, flavonoids and other organic plant substances, olive leaves contain the substance oleuropein, which is known as natural antioxidant and for its bitter taste. Oleuropein is said to be responsible for the fact that olive trees can become over 1000 years old and have an enormous resilience. Additionally, oleuropein is supposed to protect the evergreen olive tree against illnesses.
In the leaves of the olive tree can also be found vitamin C and E, secondary plant substances such as the flavonoids rutin, quercetin and luteolin, polyphenols (hydroxytyrosol, caffeic acid), phytosterols and organic acids (Source: Wikipedia).
